Much like the weather has been since I arrived in Hong Kong, my first day of work was a bit hazy. I felt like my head was in a cloud and, up on the 69th floor of IFC2 (the building in which my office is located, which incidentally is supposedly the tallest building in Hong Kong and the seventh tallest in the world) it literally was. At lunch and after work I had the chance to discover a little bit of the SoHo and Mid-Level neighborhoods, but the rainy, humid weather didn't make for the best conditions for exploring. Fortunately, everything in Hong Kong is connected by walk ways and malls (crazy-ass big malls) that allow you to get around without getting wet and, in many cases, without having to step outside at all. Back in the office, I received an email announcing that the week's shipment of fruit had arrived, which comes in bulk and is stored in the kitchen for all to take. What a random but very nice perk. All day long I subsequently saw people carrying bananas back to their desks. If that weren't enough, there are the so-called tea ladies whose job it is to go around and serve hot and cold beverages to people, though it appears only those with offices get this extra special service. I was served no tea!
Below are some shots I took during my walk to and from work today.
Des Veoux Road -- I live right around the corner from here.
The neighbors really need to renovate...
No need to worry about dark allies here ... and this street isn't even all that well lit compared to some.
