Bridge Climb

Sydney Harbor Bridge is the other big iconic structure in the city and one that you can get to know up close and personal. I took the three-hour discovery tour today. No cameras allowed (bastards!), but the few from the top was absolutely amazing. If you look really close at the pics below, which I took from the ground of course, you can see other tour participants walking on top of the arches like I did.

Here's a description of the actual climb:

The Discovery Climb is a 3 ½ hour Climb experience that journeys to the top along the inner arch of the Bridge. In groups of up to 14 Climbers, you will be able to touch the raw steel and rivets and experience this amazing iconic structure up close. You will wind above the harbour on catwalks, scale the steel heart of this structural masterpiece and emerge to a unique summit experience via a mammoth staircase between the two arches of the Bridge.

Along the way, one of BridgeClimb’s professional Climb Leaders will share the Bridge's rich history, leaving you in awe of this incredible feat of engineering. The summit is 134 metres above the water, where you will be rewarded with amazing panoramic views of this amazing Harbour city.

The Discovery Climb is the ultimate adventure of the Bridge.

It was also interesting to see photos of the celebrities who had done the climb, which ranged from Bette Midler to Terri Hatcher to Bruce Springsteen to Ryan Reynolds.

No nets or safety gear was used when the bridge was built. 16 men died. One man fell 50 meters to the water and survived. He was back on the job a few weeks later...
